i started thinking about this shirt as a response to how i’ve been feeling during a great deal of 2020, especially recently. i even joked about it on instagram – i was going to have a couple printed up just for me, wear them around to express myself, and have that be it.

but it occurred to me that there were many others trudging through each day with the exact same depth of feeling, and some of them might want to brandish it too. so i put more thought into the design, to make the message more meaningful.

other BIPOC (and our true allies), exhausted from the onslaught of trauma that has been layered unrelentingly on top of the existing global health crisis, could wear the shirt as a way to stand strong and be heard even when they didn’t have the energy to be drawn into yet another conversation or altercation.

that’s what I’m going to do, and i intend to wear it proudly because it is my truth.

if it’s yours as well then i encourage you to buy one. buy one for yourself. buy one for your brother, your sister, your parents, your neighbors, your coworkers, your friends…

i’ve been using my money to help support as many people as possible this year. giving to various individuals, causes, and relevant organizations. buying from black-owned business and independent artists. doing research on who needs help and how best to get it to them. but it still doesn’t feel like enough.

you can buy with confidence because money from the sales of these shirts is going to go right back out into the community, where it is needed. you can even let me know where you’d like it to go and I will do my best to make sure your part of the proceeds go to the organization of your choice. you have nothing to lose, but we all have something to gain.

it’s made of a thicker, heavier cotton, but it’s still soft and comfy. and the double stitching on the neckline and sleeves add more durability to what could end up being a favorite 🙂
